Privacy Policy

fenkro has no user accounts: there is no sign-in, no OAuth and no YouTube login. We therefore never access private or account-specific YouTube data, and never ask for or store YouTube login credentials. From YouTube we read only public information (such as video titles, thumbnails, durations, channel details and public counts). The information we do handle is set out below; we never sell it, and never use it for advertising or profiling.

Server logs

The web-hosting company records standard request information (IP address, user-agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security, abuse-prevention, and operational diagnostics. These logs fall under the web-hosting company’s policies. They aren’t used by us for advertising or profiling.

Analytics

fenkro uses PostHog, hosted in the EU, to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, roughly which country visitors are in (estimated from IP address), and how features are used — for example what is searched for. Our analytics stores nothing in your browser — no cookies and no local storage — and uses no identifier that persists between visits, so it cannot recognise you when you return or build up a profile of you over time.

To help us fix problems, we also use Sentry (hosted in the EU) to record technical details of any errors that occur in your browser while using fenkro.

Visit counts

We count visits to each video, using pseudonymised visit information; nothing is stored in your browser for this. This data is used only internally, under our legitimate interest in understanding use of the site, and detailed records are pruned to aggregate weekly summaries after roughly a month.

Loops

Loops you create on a video are saved in your browser’s local storage, on your device only: they are not sent to us or to anyone else. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.

YouTube

fenkro uses YouTube API Services: to show search results and video pages we fetch and cache YouTube data such as titles, thumbnails, durations, channel information and public counts. Videos play in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embedded player (youtube-nocookie.com), which sets no tracking cookies until you start a video; playback is then governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
